WHAT HAVE I DONE???

Let’s eat, drink, and craft our way to a happy home.

— ME

Hi Friends! (we’re friends now, it is that simple.) I’m Cambria the “Chi” portion of Chi-REZidence! My partner Jerry is the “REZ” part and together we share our home which we lovingly refer to as The Chi-REZidence. Together we share two pups, a bunch of hobbies and a whole lot of misadventures! We’re excited to share our shenanigans on the regular – as most days I cook, craft or create something fun!

Now panic strikes…. because I have indeed started a new thing. I must learn how to successfully use this page and others – please be patient and please subscribe so you can stay updated on all the wondrous things I will surprise Jerry with. My skillsets are endless thanks to YouTube.

Not Really. but kinda. (Isn’t the internet magical, it did bring us together!)

A little about me I am a Wardrobe supervisor by trade which means I dress actors for the theatre – I like a whole slew of sewing related hobbies (hand embroidery, cross stitch, pattern making..ect.) Warning: I will scream happy screams for a pompom or anything needle felted. My aesthetic is mostly bright and happy with a side of true crime as during most making sprees I will scare myself with a murder podcast! We can chat our fave murders if that’s your thing on a later post! Jerry doesn’t love murder sooooo I’ll need friends to share that part of my life with :). However Jerry does love shoes, men’s fashion, leather working and nachos – but honestly who doesn’t love a hot cheese?! Oh I guess you could say he loves me too because I hot-up cheese for him on the regular! I consider myself a modern homemaker with an affinity for color. I like color on my plate, in my fashion and around my house hopefully you’ll stick around so we can make home fun!

XO,

C.

Mischief Monday – Movies where the kids are TROUBLE. They are creepy, young and coming after you. Unfortunately with will prevail – there knees don’t click…

Extraterrestrial Tuesday – GUYS, It’s Alien Movies. Also who knew Hulu had so many Alien Movies Streaming?! Something to ponder over while people are being abducted and whatnot.

Threesome Thursday – Movies that feature a Dark Romance, an obsessive lover scorned… YOU GET THE POINT. The threesome has gone wrong –

WATCH-O-Ween 2024

Spooky Season is Back, and so is our Annual Movie Watching Calendar! We hope you join us for another month of spooky and fun movie viewing!

This year we’ve curated a whole new weekly line-up to delight and fright!

Mommy Dearest Monday – A whole day devoted to the creepiest mamas we ever did know. Some of these Mamas are a little more obvious than others but we hope you stick around the whole of the movie to witness these mamas misbehaving.

Tabernacle Tuesday – Why are there so many horror movies devoted to religious darkness? I’m not sure – perhaps because organized religion is cult-y (sorry, not sorry). ANYWHO – we’ve gathered some really creepy options that “celebrate” religion. Let’s exorcise those demons – Together!

World Wide Wednesday – You can refer to Jerry as Mr. World Wide a la Pit Bull if you want. I approve! We’re goin’ Global! Some of the creepiest foreign films new and old! Definitely stick around for “The Call”…. Grab your reading glasses we’re cozying up to subtitles. (Who are we kidding – I use subtitles for everything!)

Blood Thirsty Thursday – Movies that feature Gore! They are Gore-ious if you will. Blood – Guts – More Blood – More Guts – Blood – Guts – you get it. Come for the gruesome, stay for the badly woven plot. Slasher films forever. *Heart Eyes*

Fam Friday – A whole evening for the FAM! Our calendar is NOT kid friendly but we’ve devoted Friday Nights to some childhood faves! New and Old alike – sharing the love of Halloween with a younger generation is the goal. Halloween IS cool.

Series Saturday – A new idea from us! We’re watching an original series – bingeing if you will! We’ve paced out “FROM” available on Amazon Prime for us to enjoy together! Hopefully you haven’t seen it yet – I’m not sure how much traction it’s received but we really enjoyed it and it’s currently airing it’s third season so you have more to watch if the series peaks your fancy! Here’s the short version – family disappears into a mysterious town – a murder-y Brigadoon if you will. The town is full of folks who suffered a similar fate who have banned together to build a community with only one issue… STAY INSIDE AT NIGHT and don’t you dare let them in.

Sunday Funday – WE LOVE SUNDAY FUNDAY! Some of our favorite comedy horror movies – silly, at times stupid and highly entertaining. Like us. YOU GUYS WE’RE WATCHING “SLOTHERHOUSE” – need I say more? Yes – Okay. Come watch and kick your week off with a hilariously seasonal good time OR End your week with a hilariously seasonal good time – Glass half full or empty? You pick.

Well, you have the weekly line up – *SPORTS BALL ENERGY* LETSSSSS GET READY TO GET COMFYYYYYY. Now for the calendar!

*Drum Roll* (I know what you’re thinking – WOW, Cambria has really stepped it up with the special effects!)

So CUTE – Right?!

Anyways – If you made it alllllll the way down here for the calendar – we appreciate you! I hope you join us on instagram @chirezidence for the whole month of devoted movie watching! Spooky Season Starts NOW.

XO,

C and J

P.S. Sharing is CARING – feel free to pass our calendar around and as usual PLEASE TAG US on Insta as you enjoy the movies, even late! We love a catch-up! Okay – BYE for real. Heart you.

WATCH-O-WEEN 2023!!!!!

“IT’S HAPPENING – IT’S HAPPENING – EVERYBODY STAY CALM! STAY CALM!” – Michael Scott (Reacting to this years Watch-O-Ween Calendar) I know – I know, We out did ourselves – YET AGAIN.

Jerry and I really hope you enjoy this spooky seasons Watch-O-Ween!! We took feedback from last year and did our best to make it the most accessible year yet!! Most movies are ready to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, or DisneyPlus. I included a key on this years cutie calendar so it’s easy to find the movie of the day!

Lots of new movies this year which is always so fun to get to share new spooks and scares with our favorite People! We always strive to bring you scary movies you might not be too familiar with – but hope you enjoy snuggling up in the dark and embracing the tricks of the season!

Once again we’ve themed the days – this years line up is:

Sunday Scaries – Hopefully new to you, scary movies – slightly traditional in nature!

Monday Funday – Scary movies with a comedy edge, my newest favorite theme to be honest. BUT DON’T TELL THE OTHERS.

Turnkey Tuesday – Scary Movies with a prominent house. You know the type – the house you shouldn’t live in and yet you’ve moved your perfect little family into to live out your glory years. More like GORY Years.

Whippersnapper Wednesday – A day for family movie gathering! We had to include the littles – pop some popcorn, make hot cocoa and gather your loved ones. We’re celebrating the season – with light hearted magic!

Thicket Thursday – We’re in the woods y’all, should we be here past dark?! NOPE… are we hanging out until we probs get hunted? YEP. Buckle up babes – there’s something lurking in those woods.

TGI Friday – Thank God it’s Friday, movies with heavy religious undertones. Let make religion more creepy? OKAY. Crosses turning upside down, Erie bible versus, possession? Don’t mind if we do. BYOHW (Bring Your Own Holy Water).

Subtitle Saturday – We are officially embracing foreign films! BECAUSE honestly other countries are making better horror movies and we’re remaking the watered down versions… THERE I SAID IT. anyways here are some creepy faves. Also Korea has a thing or zombie movies and I’m never mad at that! Turn on the subtitles, off the lights and away we go!

The line up this year is packed! We’re so excited to get watching – Join us starting TONIGHT. on Insta as always for some light commentary.

HAPPY SPOOKY SEASON FRIENDS – We hope it’s an epic one!

XOXO,

C and J

Starting TONIGHT with Hocus Pocus 2 – we couldn’t let this LONGGGGG awaited sequel Sneak past us without honoring our faves, The Sanderson Sisters!!!

TONIGHT WE RIDE, Happy spooky season babes!

XO,

C and J

NEW CALENDAR HERE ^^^

We’re Getting Married!

For those of you that don’t know us personally – Cambria and Jerry of the Chi-Rez fam are engaged!

Jerry surprised me on Christmas Eve with the sweetest proposal and I’ve never been so excited to be making moves to make him my husband! We’ve been sharing a life together for about 6 years but being engaged does feel different!

We’ve now been engaged almost a month and whoa buddy the wedding planning process comes in super hot! We have decided to get married this year. Yes. 2021. And yes we realize we’re still in a pandemic, but we’re also committed to being married and having a wedding in whatever shape we deem safe!

So we’re wedding planning with hopeful optimism! And we’re so thankful for the love and support from our friends and family!

In all honesty – being engaged has been super overwhelming for me. It’s brought me over the moon happiness and crippling anxiety. I have struggled with telling people and sharing details and feeling in control. It almost feels like everybody was on the same page but me, I was in a different chapter!

I think some of this stems from the fact 2020 was not kind – so being the recipient of such delightful news knowing so many are struggling felt almost unfair. Also there’s no guide for telling people you’re engaged in a pandemic SO I probably failed when I texted most people but I was at least able to get the info out in a concise manner! Processing being engaged is very surreal and I’m still an introvert at heart so I just need time to sit with my feelings!

And while I’m in my feelings – I also need to share my excitement about marrying my best friend! Because I am SO EXCITED!!! I never really dreamed about a wedding as a child but I did fantasize about a partnership like my parents! My parents have been married 30 years and still enjoy being together – they are best friends and continue to keep each other laughing!

In light of my “deer in a headlights” stance on the wedding – we have hired an amazing wedding planner! Emily is a fam friend and has already brought the best energy into this process! We’re so looking forward to working with her and I am so appreciative to her for taking some of the weight out of the “planning” and putting more energy into the joy!

I want to savor this time with Jerry! I want us to have a beautiful wedding day and an even more beautiful marriage. At the end of our wedding day the most important aspect is the fact we’ll be husband and wife!

XO,

C & J

Cinnamon Sourdough Honey Buns with Cream Cheese Icing

I think by now we all have either given in to starting a sourdough friend or contemplated starting the sourdough starter process – hopefully this recipe encourages you to start one ASAP if you haven’t. It yields the most delish honeybuns with light sourdough flavor, cinnamon caramel insides and little crispy tops beautifully covered in not too sweet creamy cream cheese icing. Let’s just say OH LALA.

This is an overnight dough – honestly it’s my new favorite type because you mix the dough together the night before and wake up to a fun yummy project! These do go through a second rise once the buns have been crafted into their fun little swirls!

Oh also I’ve started baking with a food scale which is REALLY a game changer for speeding up the ingredient process but I’ve included regular measurements as well (In case you don’t have a food scale)!

These buns bake up perfectly for welcoming Fall – HELLO OCTOBER!!! I’ve attached the recipe at the bottom of this post! HAPPY BAKING AND HAPPY FALL!

LET’S TALK ABOUT HALLOWEEN MOVIES. AKA The First Annual WATCH-O-WEEN.

HI FRIENDS!!!

IT’S OCTOBER. sorry I’ll stop yelling – I am just overly excited for October to be here. WHY? because honestly September was a truly insufferable month. (My grandma passed away, I lost my job, and I had to deal with fraudulent charges on my debit card, also the world is a hot trash fire. not saying these items are all in the same scale but I could not catch a break) Alright so now you’re all caught up and we can move on to more fun things like celebrating Halloween!

If you didn’t know – Jerry and I LOVE a horror movie. Some of our best ‘early’ dates were spent introducing each other to different scary movies. We just love ’em – scary, fun, kitschy, mind benders, you name it and we have probably seen it! SO…. In honor of all the movies we love so much we built a WATCH-O-WEEN Calendar for us all to enjoy!

COME WATCH MOVIES WITH US FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH. Our Halloween tradition is we watch one scary movie a night during the month of October and now we’ve actually planned out themed days!

Did it take us actual hours to narrow down our movies – yes?! Have I never been prouder of a calendar – also yes?!

OH WHAT FUN?! scary movies and a cute clip art calendar – how official!

OK – let’s chat details! Each day of the week has a theme (some days are fam friendly – we know not everyone loves a scare factor but might still wanna enjoy a festive fall movie) WE HAVE YOU COVERED.

FUNDAY Sunday – Fun and Funny horror movies we have laughed our butts off watching – while being freaked out – yes? probably!

MUSICAL Monday – Musical movies with scary/ horror vibes! and honestly just a nice homage to my home the theatre which is currently closed due to covid. UGH.

TINY TOTS Tuesday – These are movies we deem safe for even the littles! Classics we grew up on and still love! *cough, cough* Hocus Pocus

BURTON Wednesday – We had to honor our fave stylistic movie maker Tim Burton with an entire day. His movies are beautiful productions and there are so many to enjoy!

THRILLER Thursday – Less gore, more story? sure we’ll go with that!

F*CKED UP Friday – All the movies Jerry and I have seen that yielded “OH – That was F*CKED UP.” Truly a night of horror or horrifying movies – we are still talking about! Very excited to share some of these with you – if only we could see your reactions!

OLD SCHOOL Saturday – Our line up consists of all of our favorite OG Nightmare makers! Much of the 80’s horror we hold dear and the monsters that have been haunting us for decades!

Download our cute calendar and get ready for WATCH-O-WEEN 2020! Can’t wait for all the spooky scary treats! We’ll be on insta with our viewing party every night! come Join @chirezidence!

XOXO,

C and J

Hello! Let’s Stay Team Quarantine!

6 books to make staying home easy! from your queen of Quarantine – ME!

If you’re anything like me you like a good read and with social distancing in full swing I’m sharing a few of my most recent reads!

Furiously Happy By Jenny Lawson

If you haven’t read any of Jenny’s previous books, please do! “Let’s Pretend The Never happened” is one of my all time faves. She has such a comedic take on truly upsetting events and given the current state of the world she’s the perfect apocalyptic buddy! Her struggle with mental health is hilariously and thoughtfully covered in “Furiously Happy” – and you get the bonus of seeing a delightful taxidermy Raccoon!

Conversations with Friends By Sally Rooney

My most recent read and It clipped right along. This story follows a young woman and her best friend as they befriend some older wealthy friends – but things get complicated as their lives become more intertwined. A book of interpersonal relations and full of real life complexity. Could be a nice way to feel connected during this time of social distancing! let them go to parties for you!

This is How it Always is By Laurie Frankel

THIS BOOK! I loved it. It’s such beautiful portrait of a family who are figuring out how best to serve their transgender daughter – Poppy. Poppy is a modern day super hero and her journey will both break your heart and heal it! If you are a parent or want to be a parent, please read this book – it’s full of sweet humanity and acceptance. Also I cried through like 85% of this book – Jerry can attest but it was almost therapeutic. Would read it again tomorrow – and might because I got nothing but free time! Oh and their is a delightful fairytale element that really brings the entire story together! SO DANG GOOD.

The Prettiest One By James Hankins

I love me a murder mystery situation, but it took me a hot second to commit to reading this one. Glad I followed through as it plays out in an interesting way and is full of some fun twists. Without giving away too much – a woman wakes to find she can’t remember what she’s doing in a place that’s unfamiliar – she gets herself home to discover she’s been missing for months and so begins a journey to find answers. Full warning – don’t read this one before bed! lol

The Peacock Emporium By Jojo Moyes

I love me a Jojo Moyes book! Her female characters are always so charming and her plots are always heartbreaking but hopeful. AND so it this book – Shocking! I really didn’t think I was invested in this one until a major plot point happened and I WAS A MESS. Jerry was concerned. It’s a sweet story about community – just what we need these days.

Where The Crawdads Sing By Delia Owens

If you do anything – read this book. It’s so beautiful. It also has a little something for everyone, murder mystery, romance, nature and a kick ass female character. IT’S SO GOOD. The nature descriptions will have you feeling like you are wandering around and the story is so touching. CRIED like uncontrollably and then laughed. it’s magic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND – this is one you’ll want to own and revisit.

I know this list is random – but so are my reading choices. you’re welcome 😉

In all seriousness I hope you are practicing social distancing and encourage you to cuddle up with a good book – then we can plan on a virtual book club! YASSSSS. Let me know what you’re reading or if you picked something off this list!

C
